“An Introduction to Oil Painting for beginners and improvers”

Professional artist Stewart Kent offers you the opportunity to learn a traditional approach to Land and Seascape painting in his studio. His short year round courses are limited to four students enabling maximum personal attention to each student, their ability, experience and potential. His central Penzance studio is complemented by a fine collection of unique art books and DVDs in the ground floor Reading Room. A great place to spend time enjoying an early evening glass of wine or two in the Autumn, Winter or Spring in front of a coal fire! Or why not enjoy a cooked breakfast on the patio in the enclosed courtyard garden in the Summer!

Stewart has recently exhibited and sold his work at The Mousehole Gallery, The Penzance Arts Club, Cornwall Open Studios and The Royal Society of Marine Artists annual exhibition at the Federation of British Artists London Mall Galleries. See some of Stewart's paintings here.

There is a 4 day (3 nights) or 6 day (5 nights) course at a cost of £435 or £665 respectively.

- Each course includes comfortable single room en suite accommodation, full English breakfast, a light lunch, unlimited tea or coffee during the day and a glass of wine or two in the early evening.

- With so many fine restaurants and pubs within short walking distance of the Guesthouse, evening meals are at one’s own expense.

- We can arrange collection by taxi from Newquay Airport or a free pick up and drop off service at Penzance train or coach stations.

- Weather permitting, the longer course will include two days “on location” (packed lunches included) at Newlyn Harbour, Mousehole or Lamorna Cove.

- A half day escorted visit to either a local artist’s studio or the Penlee House Gallery (entrance fee included) home to the Newlyn School of artists paintings, is included on both courses.

- A list of what to bring with you will be sent to you at the time of booking.

Courses are year round and are not restricted to any particular days of the week.

Studio periods are: 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m and 1.30 to 4 p.m. each day.

There is no single room supplement to pay or a minimum participant requirement.

A deposit of £100 is required at the time of booking and this can be made by PayPal or Cheque.
