Chamber's new membersThe Chamber would like to welcome several new members this month.
Would you like to see your business on this page? Do you believe that there is no such thing as free publicity? Well, you could be wrong! Become a member of Penzance Chamber of Commerce and your business could be featured in an article on the Chamber page in the ‘Cornishman’. We are also interested in featuring other non-profit making organizations of local interest. Any existing members who have not recently been featured, or any one else interested in appearing on the page, please get in touch with Press Officer Emma Vowles on 01736-331813. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Penzance Chamber of Commerce, please use the 'Membership Enquiry' page or contact Yvonne Neale on 01736-719322 to find out more. Local Tourist Attractions re-openThis month sees the re-opening of many local tourist attractions, so as spring is in the air, we have decided to remind everyone out there that there are many places to visit and they are not just for the tourists, but of interest to everyone. This is by no means a comprehensive guide and if you have any suggestions on who should be included, please get in touch!
Donation for coachingSENSE, the National Deaf Blind and Rubella Association, supports the 23,000 people who are deaf and blind in the United Kingdom. Susan Kersley of Porthcurno is hoping to raise £2000 for SENSE. She plans to do this by taking part in an Alaskan Wilderness Challenge in June. She will be carrying a rucksack weighing 35 kilos, while she walks on the glaciers and watches out for bears! Susan is asking for help with a donation to SENSE. She is offering a session in Life Coaching in return for the donations she receives. To make a donation and to book a half hour session off life coaching in return please contact Susan on 01736-810401. Christmas LightingAfter reporting the recent problems faced by the Brighter Christmas Volunteers, mainly due to lack of support, the matter was discussed at the last Chamber meeting. Following this it was decided that the group and organisation of the Christmas Lights this year should come under the umbrella of the Chamber of Commerce. More details should be forthcoming after the next meeting and in the meantime, anyone interested in helping should get in touch with the Chamber. Neighbourhood Watch CaravanThe Penwith Neighbourhood Watch and Crime Prevention Unit mobile caravan made an appearance at Safeways car park on Tuesday. The caravan is run by Penwith Neighbourhood Watch Trust, chaired by Jan Garrison. The caravan can be booked free for events and contains lots of useful information on crime prevention. You can book the caravan for your events and fetes by contacting Penzance Police Station, where a diary is being kept. Bulky refuse to be collected by councilLast month we reported that the collection of up to three bulky items would no longer be carried out by the refuse collection company BIFFA. We are pleased to report that this service will now be carried out by the local council instead, and you should contact them if you require this service. May MeetingThe next Chamber Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 2nd at the Queens Hotel, The Promenade, Penzance at 7.30pm.
