<P>With a huge variety of restaurants, Penzance claims to have more eating places per
resident than New York City. All manner of cuisine can be found in specialist
establishments including Chinese, Cantonese, Italian, Indian, Mongolian, French,
Cornish and English. Fast food from kebab houses, chip shops, pasty shops, cafes and
takeaways is plentiful. In and around Penzance you are never far away from somewhere to
get yourself something to eat at a price to suit your pocket. One of the local delights
is the Cornish Meadery of which there are three within Penzance and one in Newlyn - all
guaranteeing an excellent, good value family meal in surroundings with a special
atmosphere.</P>

A number of them are housed in very old and historic buildings, particularly in the
Chapel Street area of the town. Most provide wholesome, good value pub-food in warm and
cosy surroundings. Some of the pubs have regular jazz and other live music and quiz
evenings are popular.</P>
