Got a message from a friend from the surfing days at Sennen. Unfortunately, one of my children "wiped it" before I could put you in the address book, so if you read this Dave, can you get in touch.

Im due to stay in Cornwall at the beginning of October and I cant wait! From what I have read on the web site and peoples comments in the Guest book - I will have so much to do in such little time, I really cant wait. It is good to see a Town have its own web site, especially one that is full of good information and is interesting to read. I hope all those looking for friends and families are sucessful!
All the best,
Levi

Hi, I visited Penzance and really enjoyed it. I heard about the WEST CORNWALL FESTIVAL OF FOOD, and I am wondering if anyone knows when that is held. If you know, could you either post a message here or e-mail me at awagner@rocketmail.com? Thanks.

Penzance is a wonderful place to visit one a year for holidays. The fact that it is a working town is very attractive to my familly together with the location which means that a short drive gives access to a number of unspoilt coves, beached and villages.
However, Penzance residents should note that the various areas of the town should be kept in character. Chapel street is being blighted by the neon signs and night-clubby presence at the Regent Pub and Mexican restaurant.
Don't get me wrong, the town needs a night club. I would have thought that there would be plemtyo of edge-of-town sites more suitable.

Regards.

What a wonderful coverage of Penzance, lots of good information. I am the granddaughter of a man who was born in Penzance in the 1870's. He came to Australia in 1893, eventually went to South Africa and fought in the Boar War. On return he went to the outback
of Westen Australia and prospected for gold (eventually had his own small mine).
He married and had three children and spent the majority of his life in the goldfields of Western Australia. He died in 1945. His Name was Edwin TROUNSON, if anyone knows of his family I would love to hear from them.
Thanks for the opportunity.

I have been working on contract in the UK for 5 months now, and want to try find out about my ancestors. My Grandfather was born in Penzance between about 1892 and 1895 I think. I do not have his exact date of birth. His full name was Dennis Frederick Tomlinson. As a young boy,he was part of a group of young boys (termed war orphans?) taken to the colonies and he ended up in Nazareth House in Johannesburg South Africa. Other than finding out about his early life, I also want to obtain his correct date of birth, and find out if there are any distant relatives around. If there is anybody that can help me, please let me know, e-mail me at the address or phone me on 01908 347351, which is the work phone number where I am in Milton Keynes. I have to add that I have formed an affinity for this country, including the wacky weather, and hopefully will be spending more time here. My present work contract ends at the end of September, and if things work out, I may be able to come back.
Thank You for your hospitality

I would like to give my support to the home owners who have used some spirit of imagination in painting the outside of their homes. From the pictures I have seen I think the Town Council should be more concerned about visitors turning away when they see the drab exteriors.

Over 300 Cornishmen and their familys had come from Penzance and surroundings areas to Akron Ohio to work in the five rubber factories or gardens during the 1910 time period...my grandfather being one of them. I have lived there four different times and know how much they must have missed it. My research is on going and have books in the librarys in Truro and Penzance of Natualization Records and lists of names for anyone needing info on these brave souls who went to live in a strange land. Anyone with Mann ties could send me details to which another book will be added in the Cornwall Family History Society research room.

Hello Penzance People.
We live in a suburb of Sydney/Australia called Cheltenham. Our House is 83 years old and is called "Chyandour" after a town near Penzance. Built and named by a grandson of a Famliy living there at the time. We would appreciate any information on "Chyandour" if anyone knows where the town is in relation to Penzance. Thank you.

In 1972 a went to Penzance for my first visit and I fall in love with cornwall at once. I was very lucky to have the opportunity to stay with Arthur and Eileen Cutter and their daugther Clair. They lived in Newlyn. Arthur and Eileen is no longer with us, but I do still have contact with Clair and her family Jon and Andrew. Today I am married and have children of my own, I wish to see Cornwall again in the near future. If anybody read my email give my warm regards to Claire Wearne who still lives in Newlyn. I will never forget all of you in cornwall. Regards Anne

I moved away from Penzance in 1969, to seek fame and fortune in London. I didn't find either! Only thirty years of home sickness! My 'home' is in Penzance and Penwith and I am working towards returning there in the not to distant future.
I am pleased to see that Penzance has it's own web site at last! Perhaps it may help me to get home that little bit quicker! If any of my old friends see this, you are welcome to send me an E mail.

I was stationed in England for five years and I loved every minuite of it. I have very fond memories of England, one being it's where I met my wife, my English rose. Another fond memory is that of the time we spent down in Cornwall, most of all Penzance. Thank you for the memories. I hope to go back someday. I may be a Yank, but I feel as though England is my home. I think I left my heart in Penzance.

Just a "Thank you" to the Guestbook!
I have been trying to establish contact with ex Heamoor Secondary School pupils from 1961-67 and through this Guestbook managed to track down Bily Mitchell, Mike Sumerlee and Martin Blowers. All three are in New Zealand but Billy is currently visiting Penzance and I was able to meet him there yesterday. A great time was had although 2 hours is not enough time to to cram in 30 odd years of memories!
Thanks again!

I am hoping to move to the Penzance area in the near future. It is a wonderful town with very friendly people, but one thing doesn't seem to have changed in all the (past 10 or so) years. It still has a high amount of Dog mess on it's streets !. Hope you don't mind this criticism.
