Just wanted to say what a great website this is! I stumbled upon it accidentally, and it made me feel quite homesick. I was born and raised in Newlyn, and attended West Cornwall School for Girls until 1953. If there are any "old girls" online I'd love to hear from you! I was Hazel Worth before I was married. I try and come home for a visit every year or so, and although I now have dual nationality will always consider myself Cornish first!

To all you folks looking up your family tree. You could try looking at www.whitepages.com and clicking on the international numbers. That takes you to an area where you can look up names, addresses and phone numbers in many countries. It could help you get started with local contacts. Merry Christmas

I borrowed a book from the library by Charles de Lint called The Little Country. It's set in Cornwall in a place called Mousehole. Since starting the book I've been curious about the place and just had to look it up. I was very surprised to find a town actually called Mousehole. Also pleased. MAkes the book more real. Thanks

My name is Kimberly French. I am an American citizen, 3rd generation. My great-grandparents were both from Cornwall and immigrated to the US in the early 1900's. My Great-grandfather was James Richard Floyd born in Penzance around 1896. He was the son of Richard and Annie White-Floyd. I have a photo of him taken in 1896 with his mother by J. Brokenshire 22 The Terrace Penzance. He later married Minnie Hollow, daughter of Capt. Richard Hollow and Mary Louise of Fowey. It was long told to me that my Great-great-grandparents owned the Ship's Hotel in Penzance. Can anyone supply me with information regarding the Ship's Hotel? I have searched many avenues and have yet to find anything. I would appreciate your help. My great-grandmother had a brother named Wallace Hollow who lived his life in Cornwall. Is there any of his decendants still there? I would love to hear from you. Please contact me at your earliest convenience. Thank you and Happy Holidays.

Hello All:
I am a first generation American, my family is all from Cornwall. My Mother, Father and Brother are all from Camborne. I have returned several times to Cornwall and Lived at Treswithian Downs for about 6 months when I was in my teens. I have much family living that area today, they are in the building trades.
I love the area around Penzance. My wife is also first generation American her people are from Mousehole. Her family ran the Harvy bus line between Penzance and Mousehole. Her Maternal Grandparents are from Long Rock and she has a Brother living in Penzance now. Her Grandfather (Paternal) was William Harvey who built the family home, Zeriel in Mousehole, right on the harbor. Today it is a Tourist Shop. They also ran the Post Office out of a small building right next door to the house. Both of our families came to the U.S.A. in 1927. We have remained here in this country, but consider ourselves Cornish.
Anxious to come home again.

I learned about the beauty of Cornwall and its surrounding areas by reading the Minack Chronicles by Derek Tangye. I would love to visit this area some time in the future, but I wonder if Minack Cottage still exists, what happened to it and its animals. Does anyone have any pictures of this cottage? I would love for anyone arround this area to contact me and to enlighten me as to what has happened to the Tangye holdings. If anyone has any information, please do not hesitate to e-mail me with the information.....TKS/Gabriele

A really good site and makes me very homesick. I moved away from PZ 1989 and I now live in London. I still get home on a regular basis as I still have family and friends there. I am so proud to be Cornish and miss my home so much. I am looking forward to being home at Christmas and New Year, if only for the traditional fancy dress on New Years Eve!

Anyway a big hello to anyone that knows me. Oggy oggy oggy

Much thanks to Jon Pender and Roy Mann who gave of their time and family trees to aid in my search while over there visiting Penzance. With your local people wanting to find thier family connections we tied together ancestors and many cousins are still in Mousehole, Newlyn and Paul My granddad lived on Trewarventh Street in the Vine Cottage and I was thrilled to have seen it. Walking Penzance was the greatest. Looking forward to my fifth trip back. So proud to be Cornish.

My father (Albert E. Charleston) was born in Cornwall. I know there are probably many relatives still there but unfortunately after my father passed away all addresses and contact were lost. If anyone recognizes the name Charleston (parents Thomas James and Elizabeth Mary)I would love to here from you.

My father came to the United States in the 20's and always talked about his home with love.

A couple of months ago, I asked if anybody could try help me trace my Grandfather's family history. I did not at that stage have a date of birth. I now have slightly more accurate details, and wonder if anybody could help. His name was Dennis Frederick Tomlinson (this could maybe have been Thomlinson or Tomlin) born 23 June either 1895 or 1896 more likely 1895, as he would have turned 83 in 1978 when he passed on. Any comments or feed back would be appreciated. I thank anybody that could help or is interested in advance.
