Hi PZ:
After 15 years in Canada,I'm returning home to Beautiful Kernow the antiscipation of my first taste of a pasty, dollup of clotted cream and saffron cake is nearly to much. This site has been invaluable, good work.
Best wishes to all the Cornish

I used to visit Penzance every year and rent a cottage in Cross Street but had bone cancer and can no longer travel so virtual travel on your site is as good as it gets!

Beautiful website. I moved to USA from Penzance when I was 8, and have been back many times to visit my family. The pictures made me cry and long for a walk on the Prom.Thankyou for celebrating Penzance, it truly is the best place in Cornwall. It will always be in my thoughts and heart.

I lived and went to collage in Porthcurno between 1983 and 1986 and although at the time I really missed home in the sunny Caribbean, in retrospect, I have missed the good times and people of Penzance and surrounding towns, a big shout out to all those who remember the boys from the Cable and Wireless Telecom Collage.
I will probably visit again, the last time was in 1993 for about 8 weeks.
Regards to all, keep up the good work with the site.

Many greetings from Oldenburg to Penzance -- we left last week after three more weeks of wonderful holiday making in beautiful Penzance. It´s always hard to leave ... -- but we´ll be back in four weeks (hopefully the weather will be better than in May: We´ll do guided walks for german tourists, volunteering for the Cornwall Wildlife Trust). Best wishes to everybody reading this message !

Am coming back to Penzance in August after living in NZL over 40 years. Family used to have the Navy Inn in Queen Street and am looking forward to catching with all the old places I remember vividly. I think that Cornwall and New Zealand have something unique in common - They are both beautiful places, but I think I got it right coming out here in 1960. Also looking forward to visiting St Just where we lived in the 1950's.

Great to see the website. My father, Harry Trythall Curnow was born in Penzance in 1907. I would like to receive information about genological searches, and whether Penzance has a crest or similar identifying plaque. Pleasew advise.

I just came back home from Penzance. I loved it over there and had a GREAT time. People are so opened and friendly even though the law is more strict so we couldn´t go out that much! You should let you pubs open till morning, because closing discos and pubs at 2 is the most stupid thing I know. Penzance is a really nice, green town and I´d like to came back!

Hello to all Cornish People,
My wife and I lived in Camborne during the Seventies very happily with
a large family of pets, cats dogs & tortoise. We followed the lives of Derek & Jeannie Tangye through "The Minnack Chronicles " but never managed to visit their "magic" home. My question is :- Is "Minnack" in the hands of any heritage organisation now, or available to visit. A brief reply will be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks in anticipation,
Derek G.

I thought this site was very helpful, but it said there were lots of night clubs, and yet it didn't respond to my search. Thanks to this site I've persuaded my husband that Penzance is not a horrid dirty place at all. Thank you for your help.

First visit to Penzance was as an evacuee in 1939 from London. sent on to St Just and had the best three years of my life, I still think of it as my home. My brother Bob and I lived at first with the Stevens (Butchers) Bank Square, then to a farm at Boscean.
Are there any old uns' who are from that period who mat remember us. I hope to visit again soon, to renew my childhood days especially Priest Cove at Cape Cornwall.
Good luck with your site I found it very useful, thank you.

Greetings! I visited your wonderful town during the winter of 1980 and found it a striking contrast to what I had seen of England already. I spent two days there, just wandering around and enjoying the beauty (especially the palm trees, which I NEVER expected to see in England!) I recall staying in a place called the Union Hotel and remember it's distinction of being the first public place where Lord Nelson's victory at Trafalgar was announced (I like trivia). Anyway, I am reviewing all my noted from my three month stay in England twenty-two years ago and have bookmarked this site to jog my memory! Great site!
