I have visited Penzance several times with my husband John, who was born in Newlyn, and I understand why he wants to return to spend more time there after we retire. At present I am trying to find any relatives or school friends of his. His mum was Gwendoline Durrant, and his grandmother Beatrice Rolling, who with her husband had the Starr Inn, in Newlyn for many years. John was at ?Newlyn Secondary Modern from 1949 to 1955, and Sam Blewett was his best friend. If anyone has any info on these people, please contact me.

Our family moved down to Penzance after the blitz started getting really bad in WWII. My mother's family was name Blewett, which is a pretty well known name in Cornwall. We moved to the U.S. in 1946 and I just had a chance to return to my old home town in July, 2005. Who says you can't come home? There are a lot more cars and asome changes, but not all that much. I really enjoyed my short visit and hope to return again in the future.

My great great grandfather Captain Andrew Harvey came from a farm in Penzance called Boswarlos. He came to Newfoundland and founded my home town and called it Boswarlos after the farm. If possible it would be nice to hear from any relatives that are from there. I am interested in learning more about my anchestry and Penzance is where my family came from.
Thanks,
Andy Spencer

I would like firstly to say that after living in germany for over ten years... i have noticed a great difference in the standards of quality ... in no shape or form am i trying to down penzance ,,No No quite the opposite i think cornwall and south cornwall has tremendous potential..and when foreign visitors come to PZ they all notice the differnce in quality( cleanliness of the place)so i recommend those on the tourist board to visit european countries and live there them selves and get a grasp of how things are done in the cleaning and department especially! critizing is not a bad thing it cant all bepositive because sadly thats not true......but with flexibility and a little common sense and lot of hard work transformtations.
