Night ClubsIn Penzance the Barn Club, Bosun’s Club and The Club 2000 offer a range of entertainment to suit all tastes throughout the week. The music is varied and includes techno, dance, jazz, groove etc and all the night clubs offer student discounts. In nearby St Ives there are several more night clubs. Cinema & TheatreThe 3-screen cinema in Penzance - which claims to be the longest running cinema in the country - regularly shows major and new releases, as well as hosting many childrens' and speciality films. Theatre and concert performances are regular offerings at the Acorn Theatre in the town and, in summer, there are outdoor performances in both Penlee Park and at the famous Minack Theatre at Porthcurno. Theatre, Cinema & Other Entertainment Choirs & Brass/Silver BandsPenzance & the West Cornwall area has a long heritage of both choral & brass/silver band music, particualrly originating from the local mining and fishing heritage. As amateurs (but very competent), these groups perform frequently in a number or venues in the area. They are also eager to recruit new members. Social Clubs & GroupsPenzance has several members' clubs, meeting for social purposes and providing social facilities for their members. They also are eager to recruit new members. |
