Since becoming tertiary, Penwith College has paid particular attention to the education needs of adults. Access to Higher Education Courses are developing strongly and there is a wide choice of subjects.

It is not only those currently in further education in Penwith who are seeking local opportunities for Higher Education. The Cornwall Adult Education Guidance Service has recorded that growing numbers of adult students in Cornwall are seeking access to Higher Education.

Penwith College has established Open Learning Centres in Hayle and St Ives and this year flexistudy has been introduced. All these initiatives are good preparation both for the Open University and for conventional University courses. The College is increasingly responsive to business needs in Penwith and welcomes partnerships in developing new initiatives.

Adult and Community Education courses are available in a number of venues throughout the area - generally in existing school premises. A full programme of courses for both educational and recreational purposes is provided by Penwith College which are open to all age groups.
