Penzance and the District of Penwith offers an integrated
system of state nursery, infant and junior schools, including Anglican
and Roman Catholic foundations. There is also a good choice of nursery
provision in Penzance and most villages have their own playgroup. The
Parent-Link movement is particularly well developed in Penwith.
The OFSTED key stage results for ages 7 and 11 are above
the national average in English and Mathematics. Systemic testing and
concentration on spelling and reading aloud has been praised in particular
schools.
In the private sector, the Bolitho School has a thriving
and popular nursery. It utilises its senior facilities (such as its
art, computer, music and sports departments) for the infants and juniors.
