Weekly market re-opens restoring Penzance's status as a Market Town

Friday, 27th March 2009, saw the revival of a produce market in Penzance on the site of the ancient produce and cattle market at the top of Causewayhead.

In a regular market - to be held every Friday - many local suppliers and food producers have taken stalls to restore a much-loved and much-missed service to the residents of the town. Ranging from seafood merchants, through meat and vegetable producers to flower growers and chocolate manufacturers, a real choice of local and "fresh-from-the-grower" produce is now available to residents and visitors alike. It is expected that, as the market becomes more widely known, an increasing number of producers will compete to bring their wares to the public in this traditional manner.

The revival of the Market has been made possible by co-operation of existing local traders in the town, the Penzance Chamber of Commerce and supported by Penwith District Council
