Weekly market re-opens restoring Penzance's status as a Market Town |

In a regular market - to be held every Friday - many local suppliers and food producers have taken stalls to restore a much-loved and much-missed service to the residents of the town. Ranging from seafood merchants, through meat and vegetable producers to flower growers and chocolate manufacturers, a real choice of local and "fresh-from-the-grower" produce is now available to residents and visitors alike. It is expected that, as the market becomes more widely known, an increasing number of producers will compete to bring their wares to the public in this traditional manner. A number of prominent local "celebrities" attended a formal opening ceremony, including Roy Mann (Penzance Town Mayor), Joan Tanner (Chairman, Penwith District Council), and Andrew George (Member of Parliament) with entertainment by the Golowan Band. The revival of the Market has been made possible by co-operation of existing local traders in the town and the Penzance Chamber of Commerce, with valuable support by Penwith District Council. During the winter season, the Market is held in St Johns Hall instead of the Causewayhead location. Stallholders include:-
