Cornish Pirates announce a return to their roots

After an absence of 5 years, the Cornish Pirates (previously Penzance & Newlyn RFC) are returning to their "spiritual" home ground at the Mennaye, Alexandra Road, Penzance for the 2010-11 season.

The moves away, firstly to Truro and then to Camborne, were received with much disappointment by Rugby fans in Penzance & Newlyn. Those moves were primarily to allow the facilities for increased spectator numbers as the Pirates made their bid for Championship glory. Having achieved a high standing in that league, and for a variety of other reasons (not least financial), they are now able to return home.

Additional facilities for spectators are planned for the ground and an exciting new season is anticipated.
