Maps

A link to a "navigable" map of the town is available by clicking on the "Town Map" tab at the top of every page.

Maps showing the location of all "Featured" listings in the "Where to Stay" section will be found by clicking the button alongside each entry.

Maps showing the location of many of the shops and business premises included in the "Shopping" section will also be found by clicking the button alongside each entry.

Currency Convertor

For use both by overseas visitors to Penzance, Cornwall and the UK and by local residents planning overseas visits, a Currency Convertor has been added to the site allowing conversion between all the world's major, and most minor, currencies.

New Search Engine

The Search Engine facility on the site has been re-designed to improve the ease of finding pages containing the information required by site visitors.

Community Groups and Events

The Community section now includes Community Groups and Community Events - just a few now and more will be welcomed. This will ultimately be in the form of an 'Events Diary':-

Chamber of Commerce

Penzance Chamber of Commerce, who have sponsored this site, publish a monthly 'Chamber News' page where reports are included on recent activities and plans of the Chamber.

Advertising on the Site

Details are included on Advertising Options available for Businesses & Organisations on the site ranging from a standard format single page display to a full independant web site. A Featured Liisting option including linking from the listing to an external website is also available.

Site Launch

The Penzance community WebSite "Penzance OnLine", which is sponsored by the Penzance Chamber of Commerce, was launched on Tuesday, May 18th 1999 to coincide with the official opening on the same day of the new Wharfside Shopping Centre by H.R.H. Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall. The Wharfside Shopping Centre, which links Market Jew Street - the main street of Penzance - with the waterfront and harbour area, extends the range of shopping facilities in the town bringing Penzance to the forefront amongst retail and shopping locations in Cornwall.

Site Content

"Penzance OnLine" now has sections covering many of the major features of the town including :-

Upgrade to Page Loading method

The site design has been upgraded so that individual pages - either addressed individually or accessed by links from Search Engine listings (e.g. www.penzance.co.uk/SECTION/PAGENAME.htm) - will automatically load the side and top row menu panels, while retaining the desired content page. This is intended to give speedier access directly to desired pages rather than the previous method of loading the section "Home" page and subsequently navigating back to the desired page.

All pages now also include a "Speed Link Menu" giving access to all the most popular sections of the site, in addition to the links remaining available via the existing menus.

General Site Update

The Shopping section of the site has been updated (E & OE) during July 2007 to reflect the latest "arrivals" and "departures" of shops and other businesses in the centre of Penzance. While it is hoped that this section of the site is correctly up-to-date, the Editors would be grateful for information from any Traders or other Site Users which may lead to correction of any errors - any such responses can be sent via the Feedback section of the site.
